Sente Mortgage Launches Web-based Financial Literacy Program
Sente Mortgage enpowers KIPP Elementary students through web-based financial literacy program launching April 9th.
HOUSTON, Texas (March 31, 2014) – Texas-based mortgage bank, Sente Mortgage, is pleased to announce a new initiative to bring financial literacy education to elementary students. The Sente Mortgage Financial Scholars Program at KIPP 3D Academy in Houston will provide students access to the Vault–Understanding Money™ learning platform from EverFi, Inc. This interactive web-based program uses the latest in new media technology–simulations, avatars, adaptive-pathing and gaming–to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation.
Sente Mortgage has partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring this program to KIPP 3D students at no cost to the school. Additionally, Sente Mortgage volunteers will introduce students to the program and help them register and get started at the kick-off event on April 9, 2014.
“Our mortgage team in Houston is excited to bring EverFi’s Vault™ – Understanding Money learning platform to the students of KIPP Academy,” said Marisa Thomas, Sente Mortgage’s Houston Regional Sales Manager. “At Sente Mortgage, our team is committed to financial education and to strengthening the financial foundation of our Houston community. Educating children early about credit, budgeting and saving helps them to create their own solid financial foundation. Providing them with these tools now, empowers them to make the right monetary decisions later. We are honored to partner with EverFi and KIPP to deliver this program.”
Vault™ – Understanding Money is a new-media learning platform specifically designed to introduce financial literacy skills early in a child’s cognitive development. Course topics include saving, budgeting, responsibility and decision-making, credit and debt, careers, income, charity, and more. The course features interactive lessons, games, and story-based activities that challenge kids to make choices in real-life scenarios to best achieve important goals around saving and job planning. The 2.5-hour curriculum aligns with both state and national standards.
“From the small rural towns to major cities across the US, EverFi technology is literally transforming how students learn, and we are incredibly grateful for the public-private partnerships that make this possible,” said EverFi CEO Tom Davidson. “Sente Mortgage is critical to the success of our mission to ensure that these cutting-edge tools reach all communities.”
